Gibara and its charms shine

in eastern Cuba

G ibara, located about 33 kilometers from

the city of Holguín in eastern Cuba,
unites the preservation of heritage
with its attractive geography and historical
values. Such a combination makes this city an
interesting destination for travelers from all over
the world.
The date of its foundation is accepted as
January 16, 1817, because this was the
moment in which the first stone of the San
Fernando Fort ― current Battery of Fernando
VII ― was laid. Currently, fragments of the wall
and the forts of this military construction, from
where it is possible to enjoy charming views of
the city, are conserved.
