La Gran Piedra Hotel,
a place
for nature lovers
T he La Gran Piedra Hotel, belonging to the
Islazul group, is located in a privileged setting
in eastern Cuba. Its name comes from one
of the most important geological values of the
largest of the Caribbean islands: an enormous
51-meter-long, 25-meter-high and 30-meter-wide
block of volcanic rock with an estimated weight of
approximately 70,000 tons, dimensions that have
given it the Guinness record for being the rock of
its size at the highest altitude in the world.
About 26 kilometers from the city of Santiago de
Cuba, the hotel is located in the Baconao Park
Biosphere Reserve, an area of great historical,
heritage and landscape attractions. Many beauties
await tourists at these heights ― nearly 1,234 meters
above sea level ― and just one kilometer away is
